It’s such a rainy and depressing day today in the city of Philadelphia. I feel hot, wet, and just gross all over. I can’t help getting over how beautiful the rain is though. In light of this, today’s song of the day will be Nan Quan Mama’s “Rainy Day” (下雨天).
“Rainy Day” is a song sung exclusively by the female lead of the group, Lara Liang. Falling into the category of soft rock, this song really has it all: The instrumental, the vocals, and especially the lyrics. One of the main reasons I love Chinese music is that the lyrics are so deep. Chinese is such a language that you can say a lot without using many words. This sense of simplicity and meaning, to me, is quite beautiful.
For non-Mandarin speakers, you can click here for the lyrics and translation. Otherwise, just sit back, and enjoy!
