You know a Korean artist has really made made an impression on pop culture when you start seeing their songs popping up in dramas. 2NE1’s hit song “I Don’t Care” made an appearance on the Korean drama “Iris.”

This might sound a little bit strange coming from a guy, but I think that 2NE1 is a lot more than a fad or a superficial part of Korean culture. I think 2NE1, their songs, and what they stand for are really a symbol for how far women have come. Songs like “I Don’t Care” and “Pretty Boy” show off a strong and resilient female figure that lives above the male oppressiveness that has so long capped the success of the female sex.

As can be witnessed in the video below, “I Don’t Care” seems to be working its way into aspects of media and culture that show the power of women. Anybody else feel this way?
