Songs off of After School’s new third single, “BANG!,” have started hitting the internet. Sporting their new marching band concept, how did After School do? Keep reading to find out what I thought.
1. Let’s Do It [4/5]
So this is just an intro track, but, as a former drum line member, I will say that I absolutely love this track. Take the word of an experienced drummer, and know that this is pretty legit. If they did a live performance of this, I would be very pleased.
2. BANG! [3.5/5]
Okay, I’ll give them one thing: they certainly captured the marching band feel. That being said, however, marching band songs aren’t really conducive to many vocal parts, which is clearly illustrated in this song. Overall, it was just an okay song. While I applaud the group for trying something unique, it really didn’t work out that well in this case.
3. With U [5/5]
This is easily my favorite song off of the single. Once again, the B-side of an After School is a softer toned song that is more focused on vocals.
Final Remarks: This single was evidence that sometimes trying something new doesn’t always work out that well. After School is certainly in my top picks for girl groups, but I wasn’t really feeling the title track, “Bang!” that much. “With U” certainly made up for it, though.
OVERALL: 4/5
