The World Figure Skating Championships were held in Turin, Italy this week. It was an event where Mao Asada finally beat longtime nemesis Kim Yu-na, the 2010 Winter Olympics champion. Like the Winter Olympics, Mao Asada attempted the triple axel once again. But this time, it was different story.

This time Mao Asada was able land her triple axel clean, allowing her to have a splendid performance. When all the scores were added, Mao Asada took first place, beating Kim Yu-na by only seven points!

A Rare Sighting: Kim Yu-na falls, forcing her to settle for the silver at the World Championships in Italy.

The bronze medal went to Laura Lepisto of Finland, Finland’s first medal at the World Figure Skating Championships. American Mirai Nagasu, who was the leader after the short program, dropped to seventh placed after the long program.
