Every March, the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition serves as a friendly reminder that I probably need to revisit my New Years’ resolutions. Recently, I was able to interview one of my reminders, Sports Illustrated model Jessica Gomes. Aside from Sports Illustrated and her work in Korea, some of her credits include Victoria’s Secret, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. She was kind enough to provide us insight on her life as a model, working in Korea (especially with Lee Min Ho) and her non-secrets to staying beautiful.
JI: First off, congratulations on being featured in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue — what were your reactions to being approached consecutively for the third time?
JG: I was so happy and excited… They are my favorite client to work with – we get to travel to such exotic locations and work with wonderful and talented people. Plus, they have done so much to help my career!
JI: What’s one place your career has brought you to that you enjoyed the most and why?
JG: I enjoy the travel and I enjoy being able to have down time to work on my body and myself… You have busy periods and down periods and I really enjoy being able to have that freedom.
JI: A lot of our readers are big Korean entertainment fans who also recognize you from your work in Korea — who in Korea have you enjoyed working with the most?
JG: I’ve enjoyed working with all my clients in Korea – they are extremely loyal and always make me feel so special! Once, I did a shoot for Cass Beer. I love dancing and acting so that role with Lee Min Ho so much fun!
JI: You are no doubt a beautiful woman — what’s the secret to your beauty?
JG: I don’t have any secrets. I’m pretty normal and down to earth… I guess staying balanced is important for me. Exercising and eating well on a daily basis… Drinking lots of water. Always taking care of my body and mind. Positive thinking and doing the things that make me happy.. And always staying close to my family and best friends.
JI: When you’re not modeling how do you spend your time?
JG: I’m very active. I try to keep focused by training at my gym. I also love to shop and hang out with my friends in New York.. I go to a lot of social events in NYC.. During my spare time, I blog on my website, www.iamjessicagomes.com.
JI: What’s coming up in the future for you? Any projects you’re working on?
JG: I’m reading a lot of scripts at the moment and my American Esquire spread is coming out in May! I will also continue to do shoots in Korea. In the future, I want to design a swimsuit line with a company!
Exciting stuff. We’ll definitely be keeping tabs on you, Jessica!
