I know there’s a been a flurry of EXP changes in the past couple of weeks and at some point I’ll get to writing a full guide to answer most of your questions. However, the changes are still ongoing so it makes sense to wait till I finish all the features that I want to add. The guide is the next thing on my todo list. Until then, I’ll continue to update via blog posts and on Twitter (@ningin). Read on for the updates so far.

1. Monthly Carryover Points - The top 25 users will have a small portion of their monthly EXP total carry over on the first day of the month. Consider this a reward for being consistently on Ningin the entire month. This also puts meaning back into the monthly top user lists besides just getting monthly pins.

2. New Level Scale - With the addition of Newsstream, your total levels have meaning. Future upgrades to the site will have uses for levels as well. The new EXP scoring system added a bunch of new ways to score points and people were gaining levels like crazy. Now it’s a bit harder to gain levels, but still reasonable. If not, I’ll refine it again, no biggie.

3. EXP Notifications - You get a private message whenever you gain levels or get certain pins. The pm will come from the username, EXP. Don’t bother responding to it though as it’s not a real account.

4. Record Holders - Your game record expires every 30 days now. This is to prevent freakish scores from dominating for all time.

5. EXP Decay - This was added in the last update, but has since been modified. Instead of automatically losing points every day based on level, it now only deducts points based on inactivity. Again, levels have meaning moving forward and this is meant to slowly de-level inactive users.

Other changes include Gamer Ranks. Currently located on the bottom of the Games homepage, it’s just a fun way to see who are the top gamers on the site. Also added a countdown clock to the next MLG matches when some of you complained about not knowing when matches started due to timezone differences. It’ll also countdown to when the match ends. You’ll find this on the side area on all the Game pages. Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but games have also been added to Wirebot. It makes no difference which site you play on, scores and records are not site specific.

I’m going to get into the habit of updating small site changes on Twitter. Follow us for that and for weekly Twitter giveaways. While you’re at it, follow us on Facebook as giveaways will start on that soon.

DBSK Decathlon starts in about 8 days. We have about 50+ registered players. Hmm could we reach 125 to make all the prizes available?
