Although he is considered as “black,” Tiger Woods is actually of Asian descent also. In fact, Tiger himself proclaims that he is half-Asian: a quarter Chinese and a quarter Thai. Putting that aside, we all know that Tiger has been in sort of a mess lately. I won’t go into the gritty details, but let’ just say his family life isn’t doing so well.
In light of all this, a new Nike ad featuring Tiger Woods is starting to spark a lot of controversy. The ad itself is a black and white video of a camera zooming in on Tiger’s face. The audio is the voice of Tiger’s dead father. Many are disgusted at the postmortem use of the voice, which many believe is a cheap tactic taken completely out of context.
I, myself, also feel that this was kind of a cheap way to gain “sympathy” back from the public. Sorry, Tiger, but there’s no way I’m feeling sorry for you after what you did. You’re lucky to be playing again.
