Dong Bang Shin Ki, or DBSK for short, has been going through some rough times lately. As a global phenomenon, it’s shocking to many that the group’s days may be numbered. On top of a lawsuit with SM Entertainment, Avex recently announced that all of DBSK’s Japanese activities would be indefinitely ceased. Few have seen the worldwide success that DBSK has seen, which would lead me to today’s question: Who will be the next DBSK?

Well, out of the current slew of boy bands out right now, one group, in my opinion, by far surpasses the rest…

Big Bang. Big Bang has been around since 2006 and has seen much success in the past years. Not only is the quality of their music superb but they also give off a sense of charisma and excitement that is very reminiscent of most YG Entertainment artists.

Currently on a mission to woo the Japanese public, Big Bang is the most likely candidate to follow in the footsteps of DBSK. I’m going to take this a step further and say that I think Big Bang has the potential to surpass DBSK someday; the key word being potential. With their style of music, I think that Big Bang appeals to a very wide audience and especially to the ever-elusive American market.

Of course, this is all just speculation right now. What do you think? Who’s going to be filling the DBSK shoes when they’re all said and done for?
