After 15 years since its debut, anime/manga franchise Evangelion is still going strong and even has its own racing team debuting in this year’s Super GT (Japan’s most popular grand tour racing series).
Dubbed Evangelion Racing, this team will even have its own customizable car that will have the design of Shinji’s Eva 01 Unit. Evangelion RT Unit 01 apr Corolla will participate in its first race, the SUPER GT Round 3 FUJI GT 400km RACE, on May 1.
When I look at the preview of the design of the car, I think of Transformers for some odd reason (like the car would transform into the Eva 01 Unit). Wouldn’t it be cool if the driver’s racing suit resembled Shinji’s plug suit? And the race queens could cosplay as the Eva girls. Otakus who love anime and race car driving would have a field day.
