Not long after the release of 2PM’s 3rd mini-album, the title song ‘Without You’ is already bound to get caught in a plagiarism controversy. Supposedly this is just a ’sampling’ issue, but we’ll see…
Sampling is when an artist takes a portion of another song’s sound recording and uses it for their own song.
The piano melody in ‘Without U’ covers more than half of the song and has a similar cord to the song ‘Anyway’ by Japanese band Gamet Crow. Netizens are bringing up awareness about the similarities and a possible sampling suspicion.
Regarding this issue, JYP Entertainment stated, “It’s definitely not sampling. The similarity in the piano part is because of a simple chord’s arpeggio.”

What do you guys think? Is it plagiarism?
