A Korean man in Japan, approached the benefits office in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture to claim close to $1,000,000 worth of child support for the 554 children he adopted.
Japan passed a law that provided parents with money, depending on the amount of children they had. However, the law failed to include an upper limit to the amount of children one can claim for child support. Also, the law is open to non-Japanese living in Japan and parents can get money for any of their children not living in Japan.
The man explained to the benefits office that in addition to the kids he had with his Thai wife, he adopted all of the orphans in a Thai monastery. He even had the official documents to prove it. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said it would be impossible to provide the funds since the parents are not living with the children. However, the man is “entitled” to the money and there really is no legal dispute they can go after.
Hmm… Makes me wonder if the man truly cares about the children and will take care of them or if he’s just really selfish and is going to spend the money on useless junk. What do you think? I’m trying to think positive about this situation. Sure, he can buy tons of things with close to a million dollars in his bank account but if you think about it, he has 554 mouths to feed now. That’s not going to be cheap (plus there’s the clothing and hygienic items).
