Pledis Entertainment and After School were recently slammed with accusations of dance choreography plagiarism in their latest hit single entitled BANG! German dancer Camillo Lauricella as well as the majority of netizens are commenting on the striking similarities in a series of moves.

Pledis released a statement yesterday saying, “We saw the video yesterday. We are currently discussing the matter. We will release further statements very soon.” I applaud Pledis for not immediately denying anything right off the bat. For me, doing so really strips the company of its credibility.

Today, however, a statement was released by Pledis, and, as I expected, is a statement refuting the plagiarism accusations: “Of the whole choreography to the song that lasts for 3 minutes and 18 seconds, the only part that seems similar lasts for less than 3 seconds, it is unreasonable to say that there has been plagiarism… The dance to the song was created by both our American and Korean choreographers… Dance is a common language to all with no nationality barriers. You cannot say that it is plagiarism when there can be similarities in some of the dance steps. We wish that the problem will stop here and there will be no more criticisms of this sort.”

Bad move, Pledis. Bad move.
