A disturbing food discovery in China reveals a farmer in Nantong of Jiangsu province soaking his celery crops in sewage water.
The farmer soaks the celery in a pond for over three hours to increase their weight which leads to higher prices. The pond, however, isn’t totally clean and is filled with sewage and rubbish. It seems that the farmers do this quite often, soaking various crops in the dirty pond before distributing them to whole sale markets.
This is disturbing. I wonder how many farmers actually do this? I hope the veggies I eat are sewage free.
