Korean girl group from Cube Entertainment, 4minute, made their official Japanese debut recently. They released a remake of their hit Korean single entitled MUZIK. Despite an allegedly large fan base in Japan, the group did not do quite as well as expected.
On the first day of the song release, “MUZIK“ ranked at an unimpressive #16. Within twenty-four hours, the song dropped out of the top twenty songs. My guess is that Cube is going to be stubborn and try to salvage the debut before running back to Korea with their tails between their legs.
Here are some reasons I’ve compiled as to why they failed:
1. 4minute is still an inexperienced group
2. their control of the Japanese language is utterly incomprehensible
3. the so-called “large fan base” in Japan is probably non-existent
Sorry, Cube. I hate to say it, but I told you so! What do you guys think caused this embarrassment?

uh.. i think they should practice first and not assume things ahead of time.. ^^
expected. you can’t just go to another country and expect to be super popular and win a bunch of awards because you were popular in you country.
if they debut in another country they have to start from scratch.
they’ll get there through time and effort (:

Yeah, their Japanese was um...pretty bad.
I also agree that it’s probably a little too early for 4Minute to break into the Japanese market, but at least they ended up making the Top 20 before dropping out. That’s means they’re receiving some recognition, even though I don’t anticipate them being as successful as other K-Pop groups that broke into the Japanese market anytime soon. They need a lot more experience, but hey, this is a start! ^^
Maybe they should work on the pronunciation...?
Awww how sad. =/ Yea maybe they should’ve gotten more of the Jap language down? I dunno. As for a large fan base in Japan.. they’re still pretty new so maybe they just need more time.

Hope they will do better next time.
I feel like there’s finally some justice in the kpop world.

OMG! really? uh.. speechless i’m not a super fan of 4minute but i like them..
Okay, I may have sounded a bit harsh in this, but my point is that Cube made a big deal about 4minute being extremely popular in countries like Hong Kong and Japan. I’m sorry if I offended anyone; don’t get me wrong, I like 4minute. I just wanted to emphasize the fact that the management rushed them into this way too early, when they are clearly not ready yet.
Agreeed with KimTran~ we should give them some time first
You’re basing their failure in Japan and calling this an “embarrassment” based on week 1 album sales? Really?
Dude, just give them time. Japan is a country full of their own artists do Korean artists (even Big Bang) have troubles entering in the top spots nowadays. I say this is actually a good start for 4minute because at least they’re recognized even tho they barely came out with anything (not even a full length album in Korea yet!).
So yea, chill. lol
