Leader of SNSD, Kim Taeyeon, is taking a break from the Korean pop music scene and is embarking on some new ventures. Taeyeon will be appearing in a musical production called Song of the Sun, in which she will be portraying the lead female role of Koaru.
In the musical, Koaru is afflicted with xeroderma pigmentosa, which is a genetic disorder that prevents the body from repairing skin damage caused by the UV rays of the sun. In some cases (like this one), total seclusion from the sun must be enacted in order to prevent a life-threatening condition.
The musical is a romance, and in the musical, there is a scene where Taeyeon must kiss the lead male. Although she was initially uncomfortable with the scene, after many rehearsals and counseling, Taeyeon was finally able to pucker up and play her role appropriately.
Break a leg out there, Taeyeon!
