Since its release on March 4, Oricon reports that the 57th volume of the popular manga series One Piece has sold 2.282 million copies as of last week. Not only are the sales extremely impressive but it also means that this volume of One Piece is the number-one selling book since Oricon began recording sales in 2008.
1.69 million copies flew off the shelves in the first week of sales alone, and by the second week, sales crashed past the 2 million mark. A total of 3 million copies of the book were published, surpassing the 2.9 million copies that were published for J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
I’ve never actually read One Piece… Maybe I should start… Is it as good as people say?
