Satoko Inoue and Tomohiro Shibata are now husband and wife thanks to a little robot known as the i-Fairy.

The wedding ceremony took place on Sunday and is the first ever to be presided by a robot. What prompted such a ceremony? Since Inoue and Shibata met thanks to the i-Fairy (Inoue works for the company of the i-Fairy and Shibata is one of their clients), they wanted to incorporate it into their wedding.

Inoue also wanted to show people how easily robots can fit into our daily lives. “I always felt that robots would become more integrated into people’s everyday lives. This cute robot is part of my company, I decided that I would love to have it at my ceremony.”

The original purpose of the i-Fairy was to help and direct visitors at museums and other public areas but the makers of the robots were happy that it was able to perform such a feat.
