In order to commemorate the 30th year anniversary of the release of the first Gundam plastic model kit, the Japanese cell phone company, SoftBank, has announced that a new limited edition Gundam phone will ship later this year.

The SoftBank 945SH G Ver.GP30th, as it is called, will feature a 180mm-tall, 1/100 scale model of the first Gundam model. This model will only be available with the phone, and SoftBank says that this is the first ever Gundam model to feature an internal metal frame. The model’s custom catapult display base will double as the phone’s charger.

As for the specs of the phone, it has an HD camera, capable of recording videos in 720p, despite its screen only being 854 x 480 pixels. The phone also comes with a customized battery cover, inspired by the shield of the Gundam model, as well as pre-installed Gundam theme software.

Pre-orders for the phone will open on May 19th, and orders will ship out sometime in September. For more information, visit the official Japanese website here.
