Can I get a “Woot, woot?” It seems Toei is planning on putting Battle Royale on the big screen again but this time, it’ll be in 3D. Just imagine it: Having the blood and guts squirting out towards you…sounds like a real gore fest!

Kinji Fukasaku, the director of Battle Royale, unfortunately passed away a few years ago so his son, Kenta Fukasaku, will be supervising the film’s transition from 2D to 3D (he also directed the second Battle Royale film, Requiem).

The 3D film is slated for market screenings in October and will be released in Japan on November 20.

And to make things more clear, the film isn’t going to be a remake. It’s the same old film with the same old actors and same old gore. I don’t think a remake would be able to live up to the original anyways…unless Battle Royale was made into a TV series (though I highly doubt that). Then we might be able to get more depth in the story and characters just like in the book and manga.
