Researchers at the Tokyo Polytechnic University recently conducted a survey that asked people what they think should represented “Cool Japan,” that is, the part of Japan that represents their pop culture to the rest of the world. The results are shown above and are honestly not that surprising…

The two top responses were Animation (56.9%) and Manga (49.9%). Cuisine was the number three response, coming in with a 47.0% response rate. When asked which anime series would best represent Cool Japan, the top three responses, coming in at 47.6%, 47.7% and 47.7% respectively, were Mobile Suit Gundam, Doraemon and Dragon Ball.
