Everybody wins day 9 of the Super Junior Decathlon. Well that’s the result, but technically that’s not what happened. This Gingerbread Circus game is somewhat flawed. There was a bug where you can get a ridiculous amount of points which some people used to their advantage. Now this game was one of the very first MLG tourney games and it wasn’t discovered until now. I’m also finding that in general, any games that belong to the class of of shooting/reflex games that uses speed and precision as a means of making things hard need to be removed. Apparently these types of games behave differently on different computers with different configurations giving some an unfair advantage. Looking at the scores I saw that a lot, and I mean A LOT, of the scores were compromised. Too much for me to weed out completely. Thus everyone gets a Heechul pin. Read on for more details.
At first I was just going to remove these anomalous scores, but then more kept coming in. I’m not talking about those super high scores either; I can tell if a score is odd for an individual user. My options were either to redo Day 9 with a different game or just to eliminate Day 9 altogether. Because the Wonder Girls/2PM Decathlon quickly follows this current Decathlon, there isn’t time to redo this day.
So everyone gets a Heechul pin. The autographed Heechul photo goes into the random prize pool. Now there will be 4 random prize winners instead of 3.
Ok, that’s one thing. The other is cheating. I really don’t want to ban people, especially those with high level accounts. Understand that all scores get run through an analyzer and red flags ones that are unlikely or impossible. You don’t want too many of these red flags. I’ve already talked to some of you about them and I’ve already thrown out a bunch of scores. If this becomes a habitual problem, I really don’t have a choice but to ban you…from everything - Decathlons, MLG and Ningin.
There’s a lot of things that I’m finding out about how you guys play that I consider cheating. Such as:
1. You cannot have other people play your accounts. Most if not all people play with their own abilities. They don’t ask someone else to play games for them. This is obvious to me, I hope it is now obvious for everyone else.
2. You cannot use a non-standard mouse or keyboard to play these games. The games should be decided by your natural abilities, not by what access to technology you have. The playing field needs to be leveled.
3. Exploiting a glitch or a bug in the game is cheating. I can see how this is a gray area, however, I set the rules and it’s cheating in my book. If you got a high score via this method, you need to notify me telling me how/why you got your high score or else I’m just going to assume you cheated.
If you get a freakishly high score, expect me to ask questions. Better yet, PM me exactly how you got that score and you need to convince me or else I’m going to throw your score out.
Also Gingerbread Circus and others like it will be removed from the tournament list.
