Although DBSK may have been the first Korean group to perform at almost every music festival in Japan…but not this time. Big Bang officially becomes the first Korean dance group invited to perform at Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival!

A YG representative revealed that Big Bang will perform on the Ocean Stage of Maishima Summer Sonic site in Osaka on August 7th and on the Marine Stage of the Chiba Marine Stadium in Tokyo the next day: “We are happy that the boys have been invited to this international music festival. The audience can expect to see an energetic performance.”

Although Big Bang is the third Korean group to take part in this event, they will be the first Korean dance group to do so. Before them were Seotaiji in 2001 and rock group, Nell in 2008.

The Summer Sonic Festival is an annual rock festival that expands over two days held in Osaka and Tokyo. This festival will include Japanese rock musicians and international artists like Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, A Tribe Called Quest, Sum 41, etc.

Meanwhile, Big Bang is currently competing for Best New Artist Video and Best Pop Video at the MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan, which will be held on May 29th.
