“Thunder…Thunder…Thunder…THUNDERCATS!!! HOOOOOO!!!!!!” Doesn’t that bring back memories? Prepare to go down memory lane with the revival of the ThunderCats franchise with an animated series done by Japanese studio Studio 4°C.

Warner Brothers will be handling the series while it is set to air on Cartoon Network next year.

Studio 4°C has done various animated media including anime (Detroit Metal City, Halo Legends), music videos (Utada Hikaru’s Passion), movies (Kamikaze Girls), commercials and video games (Jeanne d’Arc).

It seems the studio will be sticking to their anime roots:

Roaring to life through WBA and Studio4°C’s use of the Japanese animated artistry of anime, “ThunderCats” characters Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, Panthro, Cheetara and others will spring off the screen with realistic cat-like characteristics inconceivable in previous incarnations.

Sounds interesting. I wonder if this revival can live up to the old school cartoon….

While we wait for the show’s premiere, let us enjoy and indulge in our childhood memories with the ThunderCats 1980s opening:
