Two opposite forces showed up on Yeo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook today to totally steal the hearts of the eager crowd! The bubblegum pop group Wonder Girls and Korean R&B/ballad singer Lyn graced the stage, showing off music from opposite ends of the spectrum.
The show started off with the Wonder Girls, who showcased some of their past hits in a medley. The crowd was excited to hear such famous hits as “Tell Me,” “So Hot” and “Nobody.” The group was greeted with equal enthusiasm when Yeeun came on to start the vocal rifts to their latest hit song, “2 Different Tears.” Afterward, the girls gave a quick interview, showing off some of their unique personalities. Check out the Wonder Girls below:
Next up to the act was somewhat forgotten singer Lyn. A singer like Lyn seems to have lost her way in a music industry full of superficial pop music. So what does she do? Well, she takes her own spin on some of today’s hottest hits among the youth! Together with her amazing band, Lyn gives a fresh and vocally driven spin on T-ara’s “I Go Crazy Because of You” and “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” G-Dragon’s “Heartbreaker,” SNSD’s “Oh!” and Lee Hyori’s “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” Check it out below:
Overall, both performances were great. This show really showed the wide range of tastes that music can span. I am going to say that, of course, Lyn did an amazing job. Musical talents like her need to make a serious comeback soon! As for the Wonder Girls, they did just as I expected them to do: pretty good. For me, they are a pretty consistent group, although Sohee does tend to get away with a lot of lip-syncing, but, hey, I’m not complaining here.
