Battle Royale and Death Note star Tatsuya Fujiwara will star in Studio Ghibli’s newest animated movie, Karigurashi no Arrietty (The Borrowers).

The movie is based on Mary Norton’s 1952 British novel The Borrowers which is about a small group of people known as, well, the borrowers.

Fujiwara will voice a dwarf whose only memory of his family are the words “dreadful spiller” in which he uses as his name. Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki said it was difficult to cast that role but as a last minute decision, director Hiromasa Yonebayashi decided upon Fujiwara when he came to visit the studio.

Being a fan of Ghibli, Fujiwara was happy to be chosen for such a role (who wouldn’t be?).
