A survey was conducted in Japan, asking 3,000 gamers what they’re favorite Square Enix game franchise was. Some titles that made it to the top 10 were surprising while others were predictable.

The ranking:
1. Dragon Quest; 30.3%

2. Final Fantasy; 20.4%

3. SaGa; 6.7%

4. Seiken Densetsu (Mana); 5.7%

5. Chrono Series; 4%

6. Itadaki Street; 3.4%

7. Kingdom Hearts; 2.9%

8. Front Mission; 2.8%

9. Valkyrie Profile; 2.7%

10. Full Metal Alchemist; 2.7%

The series I have played before are Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Chrono, Kingdom Hearts, Front Mission and Full Metal Alchemist. That’s more than half of this list (I do love me some Square Enix)! I’m surprised Kingdom Hearts isn’t in the top 5 but then again, this is a Japanese survey. The KH series isn’t as popular in Japan as it is here in America. And of course, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy dominate the top spots. I’m a bit saddened that Star Ocean didn’t make it onto the list though…

I mainly play Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. The other games aren’t promoted as well in Western countries.

Final Fantasy! And Kingdom Hearts. I played a little of the Chrono series but I was never able to finish one because I always just borrowed the CD from a friend. raspberry

I’ve played too many Square games to count. Hahaha. My personal favorites were Kingdom Hearts (Iⅈ) and FFX.


I’ve played Children of Mana ... Chrono Trigger ... Can’t remember the names haha XD FF series made it! Whoo ~ !

I’ve played FF series, Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile.

I love classic games! As time goes on, it started to fade the fun away :\


Wohhh thought Final Fantasy would be #1 o.o So glad Kingdom Hearts is on there!! Love that game <3

I’ve just played FF, Kingdom Hearts and Valkyrie Profile.

I LOVE THESE GAMES!!! I’m a RPG purist myself. smile I love maxing out stats with at least over 300 + hours of gameplay, kekeke =P

I love Freya from Valkyrie Profile… she was the toughest character to level up and maxing out. Stupid Golden Egg farming LOL


The Last Remnant is a good game. But there’s only one title in it so far, so technically not a franchise or series.
