Japanese female singer/songwriter YUI has just announced a new album that will be coming on July 14th. The album, entitled Holidays in the Sun, will be YUI’s fourth studio album and fifth general album.
Her latest single, to Mother, as well as her previous four singles, which all hit number one on the Oricon charts, will all be present on the track list. The last time that a Japanese artist achieved a five-single streak for number one on the Oricon charts was six years ago when Utada Hikaru was still active in the industry. This album marks a significant milestone in YUI’s career, solidifying her spot as one of the biggest Japanese music stars. Featuring both new and old songs, the new album is sure to dazzle fans with her down-to-Earth music and consistently beautiful blend of acoustic instruments.
Regarding the upcoming album, YUI commented that, “It’s really been a long time since the last album, and I am just a little nervous about it. (laughs) During these two years, towards all the people, who have supported me, all friends and relatives and more than anything the fans, who have been anticipating my activities - I am so full of gratitude. Thank you so much! This album has become a record with a great number of memories of mine. It’s something I am proud of. I’d be really happy if lots of people listened to it and am looking forward to your support.”
I am glad to say that I was with YUI since the very beginning. It has been a pleasure to see her grow over the years as an artist, and I will definitely be purchasing this album in the near future!
