We’ve been dealing with two problems concerning our giveaways. One is that banned users are making new accounts and continuing to enter our giveaways. The second is that some people are concerned that their Twitter username is exposed making it easy for spammers to harvest. User privacy is a very important concern for us so this issue is very important for us. I’ve been working on a solution that will solve both problems: hiding the entries.

Some of you might notice that our older giveaway posts shows the comments as “***hidden***” instead of the usual information. I think you can see why this solves the privacy/spammer issue.

Now that the entries are hidden, we’re also going to ask you include your Facebook username or ID. For those of you that connect to Ningin via Facebook, we already have this information. For those that don’t you will need to let us know this information at the time of your entry. This is also an easier way for us to see whether or not you followed all the instructions like fan Ningin on Facebook and share the post.

Finding your Facebook username or ID is simple. Just look at the url of your Facebook homepage. If you’re still having trouble, this article should help.

Hopefully this is enough to address all the issues we’ve been having with less then scrupulous people. With this out of the way, the contests and giveaways will be resuming tomorrow or Saturday.

How can I check if I have connected to Ningin via Facebook?

I think you can check by clicking Account > Application settings on facebook.
If Ningin’s displayed on the list then yeah, Ningin’s connected. ^^

Great idea, so basically we just post our id in our [hidden] post?

basically you’d post your twitter username and fb id normally in a post
but i think for those giveaway threads, they’re designed so that any post would come up to regular users as *hidden* so no chance of your info being stolen
but the admins would be able to see and verify them smile
