The hottest dramas of summer range from a delinquent trying to become a doctor with meddling people all around him to a funky detective that’s new to his district trying to solve a murder of a fellow newcomer to hot boys wearing tights while flipping in the air. These dramas are heating up the summer.

First off is Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, which is based off the popular manga. It’s about Daichi Shinagawa (played by Hiroki Narimiya, who in my opinion should be too old, but he plays the part too well) a yankee who is attending a smart private high school. Hana Adachi (played by the amazing Risa Naka) is a former yankee (Hurricane Ada) who is an extreme overachiever. This drama is full of comedy as Hana and Daichi argue nonstop, and her antics are just too much. It doesn’t hurt that my current obsession Kanata Hongo plays an arrogant genius who also used to be a yankee. I recommend this drama to those who enjoy cracktastic people, delinquents, Kanata Hongo, and stories that always seem to end up okay at the end of the episodes.

Second is Shinzanmono which is about a seasoned detective who moves to a new area. Kaga is played by the awesome Hiroshi Abe as the weird detective that can figure out anything. He calls himself the Shinzanmono, which means newcomer. Since he moved there, a murder of another shinzanmono has occured. As he solves the crimes, he also affects everyone’s life. In every episode (so far) it is focused on different people that live in the area that have come in contact with the victim. Junpei Mizobata stars as Kaga’s partner and newbie detective. I recommend this drama to fans of House, people who love mysteries, feel good moments and fans of Mizobata.

Third is Tumbling, which I consider to be the hottest drama of them all. It is about a men’s rhythmic gymnastics team, which are forced to allow delinquent Wataru to join. This causes many problems, but the team picks up more delinquents as the show goes on. I know what you are going to say — that this plot has been used too many times. I promise you it is different! I don’t really know how to describe it, but something about this drama keeps you hooked, and it’s really meaningful. It deals with family issues, rivalries, homosexuality and everything in between. The bromance level of this drama is at an all time high without being considered boys love. It’s a beautiful sight. The drama stars Yusuke Yamamoto, Koji Seto, Shunsuke Daito, AKIRA from Exile, and Nene Otsuka. I recommend this drama for everyone! It’s that amazing.

Coffee House stars Park Si Yeon, Ham Eun Jung (T-ara), Park Jae Jung, Kang Ji Hwan and Jung Woong In. “Coffee House” covers the life of young & successful Seo Eun-Young Park Si-Yeon. Eun-Young is the owner of a successful franchise cafe “Coffee Page One”, as well as the CEO of a publishing company. In the romantic-comedy, Seo Eun-Young encounters Lee Jin-Soo (Kang Ji-Hwan), a successful writer. Jin-Soo has published consecutive best sellers. The pair enters into a strange relationship ….

Birdy Buddy stars UEE (You’re Beautiful) who plays Sung mi-soo, a countryside gal from Gangwon-do who discovers a talent for golf and aspires to become a superstar golfer. Along the way, she forms a rivalry with Min hae-ryung (portrayed by Lee Da-hee of Air City), a privileged golfer who grew up with access to all the best lessons and golf courses. Lee yong-woo (Style) plays hot shot PGA golfing pro, John lee in Birdie Buddy.

Are there any dramas I forgot that you think should be considered a hot drama of the summer?
