It was allegedly announced earlier this year that 4minute member Jiyoon would be getting a solo album sometime in March. That date passed with no word at all, and fans were confused as to why exactly Hyun Ah got two solos while Jiyoon got none. Well, it seems like the Jiyoon solo debut turned out to be a “misunderstanding,” according to Cube Entertainment. That’s right; Jiyoon is NOT getting a solo debut.
With word streaming on the Internet for quite awhile now that Jiyoon would be getting a solo debut, it baffles me that Cube claims to have been unaware of the misinformation. Jiyoon herself read an article about her solo debut recently, and she commented that, “I too was surprised when I saw that article. So much so that I even asked the company if I was going to make my solo debut. However, even the company representatives were like, ‘Where did you hear that?‘”
Other 4minute members also confirmed the misunderstanding. Gayoon said recently that, “All we’re thinking about right now is 4minute’s album.” Sohyun added that, “We want to get our name known to the public, not as individuals, but as a team.”
No hate on the maknae here, but, as I recall, Hyun Ah got TWO singles. Come on, Cube! Just what exactly is going on here? A lot of people were looking forward to a Jiyoon solo. Now, our dreams have been crushed. This is a sad day…
