Yang Youde, a Chinese farmer living on the outskirts of Wuhan in central Hubei province, used a homemade cannon (made from a wheelbarrow and pipes) to scare off potential land developers.

Though this tactic seems a bit dangerous, Yang had no intention of causing harm and only shot over their heads. He used local made fireworks as ammunition which can travel over 100 yards. A pretty impressive weapon for being homemade by a farmer.

The local government offered Yang 130,000 yuan (~19,040 USD) for his land but he refused the offer saying his land was worth five times that. The first attempted eviction “attack” occurred in February when Yang ran out of ammunition. However, the police were there to help him out. Last month, he was able to fend off 100 people by firing from a temporary watch tower.

A very stubborn and extreme farmer, though for a good reason.
