Korea can pull out all the stops and make some of the most catchiest music imaginable. While I do love me some Kpop acid-trips, there’s a side of me that is all for the slower songs. This one goes out to all the ballad fans out there.
It’s safe to say that slower songs (of various genres) make up a huge portion of my iTunes library. I’ve always loved them and Korea has managed to introduce me to a bunch of good ones. Here’s a handful of ballads which I think are absolutely amazing.
Monday Kiz - ‘Don’t Go’
This group is off the chain. All three singers have powerhouse vocals. I particularly like how this song begins on a really high note, then it trickles down a little, but explodes by the end. It’s dramatic, just how I like my ballads.
Min Kyung Hoon - ‘Have Been Removed’
Kyung Hoon is one of my favorite solo vocalists. He used to be lead vocals to a Korean band called Buzz. The band eventually disbanded when some of the members entered the military, so what other choice but go solo, right? This is one of my favorite songs of his. He did quite a number with the orchestration.
CN Blue - ‘I Will Forget You’
This song probably holds the title as my favorite CN Blue song of all time (…maybe). I really like it for 2 reasons: 1.) My favorite member, Jonghyun sings it, and 2.) it’s just simply beautiful. I can listen to it anytime, no lie.
FT Island - ‘After Love’
If you’ve paid close attention to the previous songs I’ve mentioned, you’ll notice that I have a thing (and I mean A BIG THING) for well thought out orchestrations and instrumentals. It’s no surprise that I’m a fanatic of FT Island’s rock ballads. They drive me crazy, especially this one.
DBSK - ‘Bolero’
Dont even get me started on this one. Oh god, those harmonies…just watch. And listen. And spazz.
I haven’t even made a dent in the pile of ballads I love. This list could go on forever, but I really wanna hear the slow songs you like. Feel free to share your personal faves below!
