After School’s Raina was recently interviewed about her initial thoughts of the sub-unit, Orange Caramel. Was she a fan of the cute concept or did she flat out not like it?

Orange Caramel have been promoting ‘Magic Girl‘ for a few weeks now and even the fans were shocked to see the sexy ladies of After School take on such a distant concept. In a recent interview, Raina was asked about her thoughts when she heard the concept of the sub-unit.

“At first when I heard about the concept of Orange Caramel, I was shocked. I was flustered. I didn’t know that we would end up doing such a concept. It was not a style I liked.” She adds,” But still, with practice, I began to get excited and addicted to it. It was fun to show others and have them shocked to know that After School can actually do such a concept. We will work hard.”

I think she had no other choice. Either be cute as hell or there’s the door.

Oh, look! The outfits are gradually getting better.

I was shocked too but i feel bad for her cuz she HAD to get used to it.
To me.... I still dont like it :/

not too surprising, i could tell she wasn’t fully into it from the first performance.
i do like the song and the concept but maybe if it weren’t so overdone? ^^;

well, they all have to bear with it eventually. and if she persisted that she doesn’t like it, it probably wouldn’t go too well with management. in agreement with what you said, there have been countless other examples of this. taeyeon & seohyun with “oh” and “gee”, park gyuri and “rock u” / “pretty girl”, to name a few.


of course raina would be shocked. no one in their right mind would actually like this concept, except if they were batshit insane. but as bellamocha mentioned, it’s not like she had a choice. the image is saccharine, it is shocking, and it is disgusting, but when you’re in this business, it’s the boss’s way or the highway, unfortunately.


This concept will grow into you with the time, that’s for sure^^

Yeah, she really didn’t have a choice.  Like it or bounce!!  I don’t know that I am liking the concept completely but I guess with time it will grow on me.  Either way, they look distant when they perform like they still really don’t like it.  The energy is lacking.

i saw the photoshoot and they were wearing boots with oranges as designs (pictures of real oranges) was the weirdest boots i’ve ever seen. o.o
