The East met the West recently at Usher’s first ever concert in Beijing. With special guest Leehom Wang, the two showed that all barriers are broken when it comes to music! Keep reading for a brief overview of the concert!

Although fans were advised by government officials to “stay polite” during the performances and Usher was required to keep his shirt on, the concert was a raging success. Leehom wasn’t the only star in the arena, as big names like Zhang Ziyi, Na Ying and Anson Hu were also in attendance enjoying the concert.

In addition to performing his own songs and an “OMG” collaboration with Leehom, Usher also paid tribute to his Chinese fans by saying, “你好北京 (Hello, Beijing)” and “我爱你 (I love you)” in Mandarin. To the pleasant shock of the audience, during Leehom’s performance of “唯一 (The One and Only),” Usher came out and sang the Mandarin Chinese song along with Leehom! It was later revealed that Leehom was kind enough to teach Usher how to sing the Mandarin song. Having himself learned Chinese when he was eighteen, Leehom gave pronunciation tips to Usher; For example, he told Usher to pronounce “我真的爱你 (I really love you)” as “what gender eye knee!” To see Usher sing in Chinese, click here.
