Kouta Hirano did a great job on the Hellsing manga. So what can we expect from his newest series? Mystery, murder, gore and a handsome ophthalmologist (Say what?!).

Bishōnen de Meitantei de Doesu is a three-part series that takes place in early 20th century Japan and centers around a handsome ophthalmologist who’s trying to solve a murder. What’s an ophthalmologist? A specialist in medical and surgical eye problems who deals with the anatomy, functions, and diseases of the eye. An interesting choice of a main character. I wonder how his medical skills will help him with the case?

Hirano is also working on another series called Drifters which takes place in an alternate history of Japan.

I have a feeling that Dark Horse will licensed this series in the US once it hits graphic novel format (Drifters too!). They’ve already brought the whole Hellsing manga series to the states so why not bring Hirano’s other works too?
