Reward Points is the new Auction Points

It’s a process trying to find the right balance between keeping super users happy and not overwhelming new users with too many rules or things to understand. In this blog post, I’m going to be making quite a few changes to how we give out prizes. It’ll be worth your time to read all of it.

First let’s start with what didn’t change: You have to be level 10 or higher to start getting these points.

Now the changes:

- Auction Points are now called Reward Points (RP). The change has already been reflected in your EXP profile. This gives us flexibility to do lots of different things with those hard-to-earn points as well as increasing their importance. You are still going to use RPs for auction giveaways, but they’ll also be needed for other things. What other things?

- Some of our random giveaways are going to require an “entry fee” of 1 or more RPs. This way you guys would only enter the contest if you truly wanted the item. Plus since RPs are only given for users level 10 or higher, these contests favor the super active users. I’m not sure what frequency we’re going to do this and for which giveaways, so don’t ask. You’ll know when we specifically make it part of the contest requirement that we always neatly lay out for you.

- Lots of new ways to earn RPs. For finishing first in the EXP top user list for the week, you get 3 RPs. For finishing second, you get 2 RP. Third gives you 1 RP. The monthly EXP list, you get a whopping 10 RPs for finishing first. Second gives you 5. Third gives you 2.

- Now you have to manually click on a button to get your RPs. Look for this image in the side area of your EXP profile:

Click on it once a day to get your RPs. Now you control it yourself and you don’t need to PM me if you didn’t get your RP for the day! You can only click on it once a day and you need to be level 10 or higher. This should be part of your daily routine.

- Level 20+ users get 2 Reward Points per day if they click the above button.

- You can exchange items you won for RPs. Say the weekly EXP prize is a KARA poster and you won it. But you already have a wall full of posters so you rather win something else another day. We’ll keep the poster and give you Reward Points based on the real-world value of the item. Needless to say, autographed items have a lot of value so you’ll get tons of Reward Points for if you choose not to accept an autographed prize. It doesn’t have to be the weekly EXP contest, it could be any contest.

- You’ll lose an equivalent amount of RPs for all the prizes that you win randomly. Say you won the F’ing contest for the week - a Tara album. Then you’ll lose about 10 or so (making up a number of the top of my head) reward points but you get the album. This way, it makes it harder for one user to constantly win prizes. Keep in mind that this is for random giveaways. Weekly EXP prizes, auction giveaways, and whatever else we come up with later will not cost you RPs should you win.

- You can have negative RPs.

There will be lots more ways to earn RPs in the future. We’ll be starting our first Auction Giveaway in about 2 weeks.
