Haven’t had a chance to collect the Death Note manga yet? No problem. Starting February of next year, Viz Media plans on releasing a Black Edition of the manga, putting two volumes worth of suspense into one big omnibus.

Apparently a Black Edition of Death Note is already available in Germany (and possibly in a few other countries). The picture below shows what the Germany Black Edition looks like and it looks pretty sweet! If the American edition is anything like this, I may have to buy the whole series again (I could always sell the original 12 volumes I have). I think it’s worth re-buying because 1) it features full color pages of Takeshi Obata’s artwork and 2) it’s in a bigger format (something along the lines of the VIZ BIG editions of manga).

Death Note is one of my favorite manga series. It has a unique plot and features an interesting choice of, um, “weapon.” I mean, how many manga out there has a person using a notebook to kill people (and be effective too)? If this series wasn’t on my top 10 manga list, I probably would not have considered buying the Black Edition since I already have the whole series.

Would you buy the Death Note: Black Edition?
