King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo Ep. 22: Highlights and Thoughts

Today, I was home alone, so I was able to watch the entire episode 22 of King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo all by myself. It usually feels good to watch it with my parents. However, sometimes I wanted to watch the drama alone, so that I can pause anytime I want in order to analyze some particular scenes. After watching today’s episode, my anger towards Majoon became more prominent. I actually think he is a psycho now. Having too much ambition completely tarnished Majoon’s image. Here are the highlights: (WARNING: SPOILER ALERT)

Majoon failed to pass the second task because he secretly added yeast to his bread when he wasn’t supposed to. Turns out the bread Majoon made was similar to the Bong bread Master made a long time ago.

The mystery man told Majoon to steal Master’s secret recipe book.

Majoon’s mom and Tak Goo’s mom confront each other.

Majoon asked Master for a second chance, but Master refused. He told Majoon if he wanted his seal of approval, then he has to wait for 2 more years and work even harder than before.

Il Joong came to visit Tak Goo and asked him to work for his company, but Tak Goo turned him down.

Majoon trashed the bakery and set everything on fire. While everyone was busy doing damage control, he went into Master’s room and stole the recipe book. Then, he left the bakery for good.

Majoon went over to Yoo Kyung’s place and asked her if he could stay at her place for a while.

Majoon’s mom fired the housekeeper who worked there for 4 decades because she has been secretly working for Tak Goo’s mom.

Majoon’s mom and Tak Goo’s mom competed with each other to get more stock shares of Geo Sung Company. Manager Han ambushed Tak Goo’s mom and took her document to gain more stock shares.

The identity of the mystery man was revealed. His name is Park Chun Bae who is Master’s long time rival. He challenged Master because he claimed that he was the real creator of the Bong bread.

Master passed out due to too much stress.

In order to protect Master’s reputation, Tak Goo suggested having a showdown to prove that Master was indeed the one who created the Bong bread.

After talking to his Master in his dream, Tak Goo finally gained his senses back.

The episode ended with Majoon and Tak Goo starting a showdown.

The only good thing that happened on this episode was Tak Goo gaining his senses back. I feel like everything went according to what the antagonists (Manager Han, Majoon’s mom and Majoon) had planned. There wasn’t much of Yoo Kyung today. She was on for only like a minute or so. I thought she joined the bad side?! I guess we’ll have to see the upcoming episodes to find out what she’s been up to then. I hope the good guys fight back and win! It was touching to see the workers of the bakery unite and fight against the evil together. I am not sure how far Majoon will go to get what he wants, but he needs to stop or else it’s going to hunt him down in the future. Some parts were quite complicated for me to explain in English, but I hope I got everything important!
