Kim Hyun Joong’s upcoming drama, Playful Kiss, which is due to air in Korea at the start of September will spread over to Japan this coming December. Other Asian countries have also expressed their interest in airing the drama, and who can blame them when there’s a male SS501 heartthrob leading it?

The drama will be broadcasted on Mnet Japan. Park Rae-hyun, who is boss of PR & Promotions team at production company Group 8 says that the programme will broadcast twice a week but no further details were released.

Playful Kiss was actually originally based on the manga “Itazura no Kiss” (selling over 27 million copies), before being converted into a Japanese animation and successful Taiwanese drama, It Started with a Kiss, featuring Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng.

Kim Hyun Joong’s acting career has already enjoyed success with last year’s Boys Before Flowers and he is the leader of Korean group SS501. Playing Baek Sung-Jo in this drama, he will take on the role of a clever, perfect young man who falls for a not-so-perfect, clumsy young woman, played by Jung So-Min.

I wonder which other countries will be able to snap this drama up.
