After having released music videos for “柴米油盐酱醋茶 [Wood, Rice, Oil, Salt, Soy Sauce, Vinegar, Tea]” and “你不知道的事 [All The Things You Never Knew],” Leehom Wang has released yet another music video promoting his newly released The 18 Martial Arts album. The music video is for the track entitled “伯牙绝弦 [Bo Ya Cuts The Strings].” Keep reading to check it out!
“伯牙绝弦” is a song based on the story of Bo Ya, who was an ancient “qin” player in China. For those of you that don’t know, a “qin” is a Chinese stringed instrument that looks like this. Anyway, the story is that Bo Ya had a friend who really loved to hear him play the qin. Simply put, his friend was his biggest fan. When the friend passed away, Bo Ya found no reason to play anymore, and cut the strings on his qin. Tragic, no?
Anyway, the song and video both feature Leehom’s classic “chinked-out” style of music. The concept of the video is very reminiscent of ancient Chinese art, and the special effects that were incorporated into the video were very nicely done. It’s nice to see that Leehom will never forget his true roots. Check out the video below:
I think my heart may have skipped a beat during the scene where Leehom was actually playing the qin. Man… He is so talented!
What did you think of the video?
