The Korean pop prodigy BoA has certainly grown up since she debuted back in the day. It’s hard to believe that those ten years have flown by so quickly. In a recent interview, BoA reflected on the past ten years and talks about preparing for the next decade to come.

Regarding connecting with her fans, she commented that, “Because I don’t appear on variety programs, I don’t have a lot of ways of meeting my fans other than through stage performances. I want to become closer with them, but it’s not as easy as I thought. I began my Twitter account while preparing for my album. It was surprising to see the number of followers increase and I felt thankful that my agency friends helped promote it. I think I’m addicted to it, actually (laughter)… I like being able to check their reactions through Twitter and letting them know my thoughts directly. Not only Twitter, but the world has advanced so much lately. It would’ve been nice if there were things like this when I first debuted…”

BoA then moved on to reflect on the past decade of her music career, saying that, “People still tend to think that I’m young, which I can of course understand. I’m celebrating my 10th anniversary, but I’m only 25 years old (laughter). Still, I’m not a little girl anymore. Naturally, I’m beginning to sing a lot of love songs and finding a connection with people closer to my age group.”

Wrapping up the interview, she talked about what she plans for the next decade of her life, saying that, “I’ll be 35 in 10 years. I’m thinking of opening a dinner show for my 30th anniversary. Would it be weird singing a ballad version of Girls on Top? And I forgot to mention, but my stamina has decreased after I got into my 20’s. I think I need to start taking care of myself in order to continue performing on stage. I’ll be able to do well, right?”

“Stamina has decreased” eh? I guess that would explain the nerfed choreography in “Hurricane Venus.” And the mention of her preferring to sing “love songs” now is somehow unsettling… Will our dancing queen soon become a ballad singer instead? Still, I know she is capable of a lot more than that. After School’s Kahi and Lee Hyori are both past the big 3-0 and they’re still working it pretty damn fine! I just think she needs to take better care of herself and not let SM work her like a slave!
