Manga publishers have really been delivering on their promises to put an end to manga scanlation sites, which they believe is hurting their native industry in Japan. With several sites already suffering crippling losses, it seems that boys-love scanlation sites are now facing the same struggles.

It was recently confirmed that the Libre Publishing Co., a Japanese publisher specializing in boys-love manga material, has sent out cease-and-desist notices to several major scanlation sites that host boys-love works. A representative from Libre has stated that they are doing this in order to protect the authors’ works, and the company wants consumers, both locally and worldwide, to understand that, “protecting the authors’ rights goes hand-in-hand with producing their works.”

Are we seeing the scanlation Apocalypse occurring right before our eyes? Probably not, but there’s no doubt that scanlated manga is going to be a lot harder to find in the near future… Google is your friend, folks.
