The 17th Season of Amazing Race has now begun! Watch as eleven different teams go through all kinds of obstacles around the world as they race to the finish line, who will win and who will be the next to get eliminated?

At the beginning of the show I went into a panic, it wasn’t on! It said it was on, but what was being displayed was something about Drew Brees. Now my TV recently messed up and everything is in Spanish, so I searched every channel it could be on, but I didn’t really understand what was happening. Thanks to the twitter uproar I was able to stay tuned to what was going on, and seventeen minutes later the show had finally started.

After Phil introduced the teams they were off and made their way to London, England for their first challenge. Impressions were immediately forming. Obviously I am biased for Team Jumba, but I thought I’d give the others a chance to win over my support. The only other team I really liked were the doctors, Nat and Kat. They worked really well together, and made much progress.

I really didn’t like Chad, he’s very hot headed and just spent the episode yelling at Stephanie, and after he’s done complaining, he actually announced that he is going to propose to her on the show, I wonder how that is going to turn out. Poor Conor and Jonathan are trying to be nice to everyone, even traveling together, and helping people out. Playing the game that way, I don’t know how long they are going to last. Andie is Jenna’s biological mom, and this is only their third time ever seeing each other, I really don’t find this being the best experience to getting to know someone, but I hope they get a good time out of this.

In the beginning I thought Nick and Vikki would do okay in the race, but it seems that they have already developed the reputation of being dumb. Vikki had never heard of Stonehenge, they kept getting lost, they didn’t know they were supposed to take the flag, and they couldn’t recognize the boats. Even Phil was sarcastic with them in the end when he tested their knowledge on the “country of London.” Hopefully they can step it up come the next round.

They didn’t show much of Rachel and Katie, the volleyball girls, so I don’t really have any opinions formed on them yet. Jill and Thomas stepped it up later on in the race and ended up being the first to win the race, receiving a huge advantage, an express pass, where if in the future there is a challenge they don’t want to complete they can skip it, and move on to the next step. Ron and Tony did so well in the beginning, but ended up getting lost for hours costing them the race and being the first team eliminated.

A lot of things went wrong, and it’s only the first episode. People were getting lost, Gary and Mallory got a flat tire, Andie was burning out the clutch on her car, and poor Claire got a watermelon to the face. I was shocked how her teammate was so focused on her finishing the race.

My only reason for watching this season were for the Jumba’s, and they were barely shown this entire episode. So I was a little disappointed, but I knew that at least they wouldn’t be coming in last, if they were doing poorly they would have showed it. They really focus on whoever is doing the worst or the best, so I was very confident that they would make it to the next round. Which they did.

Obviously we didn’t get enough of them in this episode, so here is some Jumba moments that weren’t aired.

After buying the tickets they were able to chill out and talk to the cameraman.

Brook informs Michael on his lucky ring.

Here are the two of them on the mat with Gary and Mallory both coming in 6th and 7th place.

If you missed the first episode you can watch it over on the CBS website, and be sure to tune in for next week’s episode!
