2NE1 recently made an appearance as guests on Park Kyung Lim’s Starry Night radio show and they brought along a little treat for all the listeners–their ridiculously impressive vocals. The girls performed a cover of Beyonce’s Broken-Hearted Girl. I got chills. Yes, it’s that good.

First of all, wow. This really leaves me really wishing that one of the tracks in their new album was a powerful ballad that actually manages to showcase their amazing vocal strength. Bom, as the lead vocalist, definitely does her job here. Her strong voice is perfect for this kind of song and I’m loving her tendency to use vibrato at the end of her phrases. Moving on…although CL is knowing for her stellar rapping, this is proof that she has stellar vocals to match, which is also paired with a unique voice. That said, Minzy, omg. This girl is amazing. Her vocals have improved drastically and I seriously think she’s capable of surpassing Bom with a some work on hitting those high notes and a bit more training after listening to this. Unfortunately, Dara got outshined by the rest of her group in this song. I felt bad for her whenever she had to hit those low notes. Her vocals are definitely improving though and pleasant to listen to, so kudos to her!

I’m seriously happy with this cover–looking forward to some more covers like this and hopefully, some of their own songs to be like this. (I love 2NE1, but the autotune in To Anyone was way too excessive. They obviously don’t need it.)
