Maybe having a 20 member idol group is too much to handle. TGN Entertainment recently expressed their plans to debut the largest numbered idol group, 20Star, with, as their name suggests, 20 members. And I thought 13 was a little big! But unfortunately, according to member Ricky, 11 of the 20 members have dropped out from the group. Why? We’re not really sure of the reason.
“The members of 20STAR have been changed. Yonghwan, A-Run, Dowon, Daeyoung, Shinsung, Sangmin, Hwan, Rui, Ryan, Seungtae, Jaeyoon have halted activites due to personal reasons.”
That was the explanation Ricky offered in the group’s forum Shoutbox. He did say some of the members dropped out due to “personal reasons” so I’m not going to pry. Some were also dropped due to “inadequate abilities.” That makes me a little sad - after working so hard to become a trainee for the agency, and then go through hours of vocal, dance, fitness, whatever training, they have to be dropped because they “aren’t good enough.” Sometimes idol agencies are just a little too tough on their trainees. But I guess that’s life, and that’s how agencies are suppose to be run. I hope these members don’t completely disappear from the music industry. If music is their passion, they have every right to continue to pursue this career.
But going back to the remaining members, because the leader was one of the members that left, Ricky will now be the group leader. Tough, going from a member to someone with huge responsibility. But I’m sure he can do it!!
Now, I wonder whether they are going to shorten their name from 20Star to 9Star …
