Korean director Bong Joon Ho is famous for his works, such as “Mother,” “TOKYO!,” “The Host,” “Memories of Murder,” and “Barking Dogs Never Bite.” One of his movies “The Host” (2006) was recently chosen to be one of the Ten Great Horror Films by an American film website, Screen Crave.
Screen Crave explained, “This South Korean film proves that there’s still room for a good old fashioned monster movie in modern cinema. Cloverfield was certainly entertaining, but ‘The Host’ is superior because, like so many great horror films, it is allegorical, commenting on environmental concerns and the influence of the United States overseas.”
In case you are curious, the other nine movies that made the cut are “Night of the Living Dead, “ “Let Me In,” “The Fly,” “The Thing,” “Jacob’s Ladder,” “The Vanishing,” “The Exorcist,” “The Shining,” and “Halloween.”
I am not a huge fan of horror because if I do, I won’t be able to go to sleep that night. Because of my lame excuse, I haven’t seen any of these ten movies, including “The Host.” I know… Shame on me! I’ll give it a try during winter break. Meanwhile, check the trailer clip of “The Host.”
