Finally viewing episode six of Gloomy Salad Days, I must say I was really surprised with how this episode went! Getting to take a sigh of relief while watching it; the storyline wasn’t so intense. But one thing threw me off in the beginning, the episode was titled Xiao Tang! Still continuing from Nicole’s story, but we get to see more from Xiao Tang’s character just as much. Really, I loved this episode. You don’t want to miss it. (Warning: Spoiler Alert!)

The episode begins with the loan shark collecting his final payments from the deceased Zeng Guo Quan and his family. Now with the debt out of the way, and her mother out of danger from her abusive father, things are beginning to look up for her. Xiao Tang comes to her side with support, and admits to her that he spied on her and knows about her nighttime job. Unable to accept this, she sends him away.

Xiao Ting makes a promise to Zeng Guo Quan that he will protect Nicole. Unwilling to leave her alone, he comes back out to talk to her as she is on her way to work. She starts to listen to him, but unable to express his feelings for her, she will not accept help from him. Finally! It took so long, but Xiao Tang confesses that he likes her, and wants to help her, so that one day they can go to college together, and get a house together, and live happy lives. He’s so adorable. Everyone needs a Xiao Tang in their lives! Hah.

Nicole confides in Xiao Tang about the death stone, about how she made a deal with Du, and she now has to be turned into a stone. He took the stone to prove to her that it was just a legend (like the Gloomy Sunday song), I was so nervous that something would happen to him after that, but no, it is all good! He tried to break it open. At this point Shen Qi came to tell him that this is not just a legend, but is one of those things you have to experience to believe.

After finding insurance her father left behind, she realized that he really did care about her and her mom. He actually died of liver cancer, not from the accident. He put all of his money to his insurance, and gambled to get more, and he knew he couldn’t pay to see a doctor once he got liver cancer, so he just continued to drink and accepted it. Nicole didn’t care anymore how he died and why, she threw away the death stone and tried to move on.

Finally quitting her job and getting ready to move to Tai Pei with her mom, Nicole had one last job to do. Where one of the teachers from the school came in and impersonated a police officer to her! He wouldn’t let her leave, so she attacked him and left, reporting him to the chief at the school she can trust, he tried to tell the principle but swore he wouldn’t give away her name. Without her name the principle wouldn’t do anything. A teacher impersonating a policeman to get prostitutes, and you can’t do anything about that because you’re afraid of your school’s reputation? That’s just messed up!

Something so disgusting and unacceptable cannot go unpunished, so the chief decides to go take care of it himself, and tells this man to leave the school. He also had him call Nicole to apologize. Where the chief told Nicole that the school really isn’t as safe of a place he talked it up to be. There are secrets hidden in this school, and it needs to stop.

Everything wrapped up to a nice happy ending. Nicole promised Xiao Tang he was the only one she would keep in touch with, they plan to go to school together. And even though she made that deal with Du, it was put to rest because she was finally able to persevere! A positive ending came out for once, and it just made me all happy inside! But that probably won’t last for the next episode, a new student is arriving, what gloomy troubles will happen next time? I guess we must wait and see.
