Think 2PM and SNSD. Now think about their performances. You cannot get the screaming fans out of you head now, right? The reactions from the audience at the 47th Daejong Film Awards were a world away from the reactions that were seen on Music Bank only a few hours earlier when 2PM and SNSD performed. Straight after hearing fans crying out for the two idol groups, Kyunghee University’s Hall of Peace, where the film awards took place, held a slightly colder reception…
2PM and SNSD performed congratulatory stages at the two hour long ceremony, with 2PM performing “Only You” and “I’ll Be Back” and SNSD putting their all into “Oh!” and “Hoot”.
However, SNSD received cold, expressionless reactions from various actors, actresses and directors. They seemed indifferent to the fact that they were watching an idol group which has thousands of fans behind them. Although I’m not the biggest SNSD fan- I do enjoy listening to their music- but even I felt extremely uncomfortable and pained just seeing the frozen stares of the audience. I do not want to know how the girls of SNSD must have felt in front of so many motionless people:
2PM gained a slightly (only just) better reaction when handing out roses to Lee Min Jung, Jo Yeo Jung and MC Kim Jung Eun during a performance of “Only You”. Smiles amongst various actresses can be seen:
“I’ll Be Back” was also a performance that was not too painful to watch:
It is clear that the audience are not used to the music of idol groups, but I cannot help thinking that the reactions were rude. Or maybe the organizers should have picked more appropriate groups, say, 2AM or Davichi, to perform ballads, as this seems the genre more suitable for this crowd.
So what do you think? Was this a rude audience or did they have every right to act indifferently?
