After a string of some chilling teaser photos, 2NE1 has finally made their return with the ballad track “It Hurts” today on SBS Inkigayo! In addition, maknae Minzy and some boy group members paid tribute to the legendary Michael Jackson by performing a short dance rendition of “Thriller!”

Vocally, the performance was definitely on key. When looking for the quality of the performance for 2NE1, I always look at Dara, who is, frankly, the lowest common denominator. That being said, she did a lot better than I thought she would. Her vocals were on pitch and solid. Moving onto the other members, we have CL, who did what she does best: be the HBIC. Her rough vocals are to die for. Bom was equally as amazing, although she did start losing it at the end when I think she almost started crying (I couldn’t tell because Bom’s face is really hard to read). Maknae Minzy, the most consistent member of the group, did excellent, as always. The girl can do basically everything.

Speaking of maknae Minzy, let’s now take this time to check out the epic “Thriller” performance:

Teaming up with four other boys, Minzy rocked the dance floor with the near-perfect execution of some of MJ’s most classic moves. Overall, the performance was very well done, but I think I got the most excited when Minzy came out to do her little solo. Sure, she’s 17, but she’s got the dance moves of someone with years more experience.
