After having starred as the male lead role in the 2005 film Initial D, Jay Chou is taking a step up and taking on the role of director for the sequel. Having already dabbled previously in the film industry (with mixed reviews) Jay Chou is pursuing his goal of becoming an “all-around entertainer” with this new project.
Andrew Lau, who directed the first film, will now be on the production team. Although a sequel had been slated for 2006, the project fell apart shortly after. Now, five years later, the project is being revived and is set to begin filming next year. In addition, Hong Kong celebrity Edison Chen confirmed in a press conference that he will indeed be making a return in the sequel.
To be honest, I’m not really excited for this. The first one was just “okay,” in my opinion. Check out the trailer for the first film below:
Initial D is a movie that was based off of a Japanese anime series. The plot revolves around street racing in Japan.
